EYAL OFER (A Brief Biography)
He
graduated from a United Kingdom-based international boarding school, UWC
Atlantic College. From 1967-1973, he served the Israeli Air Force as an Intelligence
officer. Later, he went to London to study Law. During his teenage, he worked for
his family company, scraping the sides of the boats, helping in loading cargo,
repainting the boats as well as travelling to international ports. In the 1980s, he
started off his career in the shipping segment in International Maritime
Transportation. Eyal is married to Marilyn Ofer and is the father of four children.
His family resides in Monte Carlo, Monaco. In 2008, his family resided in west
London. He is very passionate about art and possesses collections of modern,
impressionist and contemporary artworks, half of which he inherited from his
father’s most magnificent collection.

Global: Ofer Global is Monaco based group of private
international businesses primarily focused on shipping, real estate
investments, energy, technology, and banking in Australia, Europe, New Zealand,
North America.
Zodiac
Group: In 1970, Eyal laid the basis of Zodiac Group
alongside his father and turned it into the worlds’ largest shipping enterprise
which is privately owned. Currently, Zodiac Maritime & Tankers is operating
a fleet of more than 160 vessels going into the ocean and trading worldwide. Some
ships and vessels are under construction as well.
Global
Holdings: In 1980, he established a real estate company named
Global Holdings in New York City. He invested in Park Avenue South properties
and rented them to different firms of law and public relations. Over years, he
managed to assemble it into an empire with more than 10 million square feet of
real estate, especially hotels and luxurious residential developments, and prime
large-scale commercial buildings in Manhattan. His empire also includes Altria
Building- 120 Park Avenue, 15 Central Park West, The Greenwich Lane
developments. He holds a major controlling stake at “Miller Global Properties”,
which is a large investment fund in real estate of North America and Europe.
Today, Eyal owns almost 50 properties in four countries.

G. Energy: In 1990, he laid the foundation of ‘OMNI
Offshore terminals’, which is a global provider of FPSO assets to offshore
industries of oil and gas. Presently, he also leads the O.G energy division group,
which focuses on renewable energy through wind, solar and forestry. In 2017, he
took over the New Zealand Oil and Gas by 70% and he acquired 40% stakes of
Australia based Beach Energy’s Otway Bassin assets in 2018. In 2017, he
launched an LP Venture Capital fund named ‘O.G. Tech’ which focused on investing
in technological startups.
Banking:
Eyal
holds a stake in the Bank of Isreal, Mizrahi Tefahot.
Eyal
& Marilyn Ofer Family Foundation: He along with his wife
established a philanthropic foundation named ‘Eyal & Marilyn Ofer Family
Foundation’ in 2013 to carry out his humanitarian traditions, to support
different institutions and departments of art, culture, and education by giving
charity. This foundation aspires to improve living and bring valuable changes
in the field of arts by supporting charities financially. Since then, he had
donated a significant amount to Tate Modern, National Maritime Museum. Tel Aviv
Museum of Arts and so on. He created funds for people in need of life-saving drugs
and medicines as well as several educational scholarships. Chairmanship
and board membership:
From
1991-2011, he served as chairman and CEO at Deerbrook Limited and Carlyle MG
Limited. Currently, he is chairman of multi-generational, Ofer Global Group and
Eyal & Marilyn Ofer Family Foundation. He is a board member of ‘Royal
Caribbean Cruises, Limited’ since 1995 and is serving as an advisory board
member of ‘Bloomberg New Economy Forum’ since 2018.
Significant
Successes
Eyal’s
fortune originated from Ofer Global’s shipping business started by his father in 1960, which expanded significantly into diversified sectors including real
estate, banking, energy, etc. in the 1970s after graduating. He turned his
attention to the U.S market in the 1980s and establishes his real estate empire. Eyal
gained international fame and became an American real estate business tycoon by
purchasing the Mayflower Hotel on Central Park West, a luxurious residential
building, developed in 2008 which is considered his most successful investment
to date and is called ‘the house of outrageous fortune. In 2012, Eyal sold a unit at 15 Central Park West New York as the most expansive apartment sale for 88$
million. Moreover, in 2014, while acknowledging his contributions to the maritime
and shipping industry, Eyal was honoured with a lifetime membership of Baltic
Exchange London. He was ranked 10 in Lloyd’s List of top 100 influential people
in the maritime industry in 2016. Furthermore, Moving into Oil and Gas business
proved to be the ultimate success as it increased Eyal’s impact on global shipping
in long term.
Although Eyal is busy signing mega-deals in the international market of real estate and
shipping, he is a very private person in his real life and does not like media
much. He does not give interviews because he thinks that the activities he does
are not to show off and that he is good at doing business and not at talking. Eyal
considers that the key to his successful business has been and continues to be
the talent, dedication, professionalism of his staff/employees. Providing
